Testing the Drug Baricitinib in Patients Ages 6 to 18 Years Old with Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is sudden hair loss that often occurs in the hair on a persons head. This study will test a drug called Baricitinib to treat patients ages 6 to 18 years old with this disease. The drug has already been approved for adults with this condition. The study wants to see if the drug will help the specific age of patients with this disease. Participants will be treated with Baricitinib. The drug is taken as a liquid or a swallowed pill. Being in the study requires up to 18 study visits at the clinic over 2.5 years. Medical tests will be done during the study to track the health of participants.

Inclusion Criteria
- Ages 6 to 18 years old
- Diagnosis of Alopecia Areata
- Able to stop certain treatments for Alopecia Areata
- Able to attend in person at the study clinic
Exclusion Criteria
- Other active skin conditions that may cause hair loss
- Serious medical condition
- History of blood clots in the legs or lungs
- Certain types of heart disease
- Currently have or have had a recent serious infection
