Preventing Firearm Suicide Deaths Among Black or African American Adults

The purpose of this study is to learn from community members and health professionals about firearm safety and how health systems can better help to prevent firearm suicides in Black or African American communities. Interviews will be conducted with African American community members who own firearms to better understand how they feel about discussing firearm safety with health professionals. Interviews will also be conducted with health professionals to identify ways to improve Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) for Black or African American adults. Each interview lasts up to 60 minutes and may be conducted over Zoom or in person. All information is confidential.

Inclusion Criteria
- Ages 18 years and older
- Black or African American Adults or
- Health professionals who work with adults of diverse racial/ethnic groups and focus on Black/African American community members
- Ability to attend an interview via Zoom (technology on a phone, iPad, or computer requiring internet or cell service) or in-person
